St Edmund King & Martyr, Mansfield woodhouse, in the Deanery of Mansfield

St Chad Pleasley Vale in the Deanery of Mansfield    Peafield Community Church in the Deanery of Mansfield

The town of Mansfield Woodhouse lies about three miles north of Mansfield town centre. The Romans had a fortress in Mansfield Woodhouse, but later in 1304 fire destroyed everything, including the wooden church. St. Edmund, King and Martyr, was then built and this magnificent house of God stands close to the town centre, serving the current mixed population of 25000. On the eastern side of the Parish, Peafield Community Church (now joint with the Methodist Church) meets in a school (CLICK for own website), and to the west may be found the remote small Church of St. Chad, Pleasley Vale.
